The Lone Star is a hotel and restaurant constructed in the 1940s. Originally a garage owned by Romy Reid, the workshop forms part of the reception area of the restaurant. Lone Star offers a great oceanfront setting and a breezy beach bar atmosphere. At night it features world food with a Caribbean twist, including dishes such as shrimp foccacia, tuna tartar and crisp blackened dolphin with sweet potato mash and papaya salsa created from fresh local produce.

This was by far my favorite restaurant on Barbados. The food for dinner was delicious and the atmosphere much more interesting than any other place we went. Lone Star has an upscale vibe, but is laid back enough for you to feel comfortable. It was not overdone in any way. The staff were very personable and the service was not too quick, but quick enough to the point where we never complained about a course taking too long to come out. There is definitely a wealthy, fashionable crowd that frequents the place.

We ate at the lone star restaurant on November 28, 2009 for dinner. The food was average except for the fish soup which tasted a week old. We then started to eat our main course, the fish of the day (red snapper with Chinese vegetables) when we smelled some cigar smoke. Right behind our table someone was smoking a cigar. Because the smoke was going our direction and prevented us to taste the food, we asked the waiter to change our table, and the waiter told us it was the owner who was smoking a cigar and went to tell the owner who kept smoking anyway. We got up to get another table and told the owner that it is hard to eat when you have cigar smoke in your face. He said he owns the restaurant and he can do whatever he wants. He also said don't come back here. We finished our meal at another table. Does a restaurant serve its owner or its customers? Your choice!

Look elsewhere. Our experience was totally unacceptable. We were in Barbados for 8 days and dined out every nite. Average meal $$$ was $ 100 pp each. The fish of the day was supposed to be snapper but the fish we got was so bitter I returned it uneaten after only one bite. No compensation. It wasn't even snapper which, being a fisherman from Florida, I sure know every one. Charged us full price and didn't offer a substitution or credit. Very low class service. Tables are not oriented correctly such that you will sit cafeteria style with other tables and one person must face the kitchen/bldg. wall while the other enjoys a sea view...very stupid. All other restaurants we recommend have BOTH persons able to look to the sea. We would recommend : DAPHNE, CORAL REEF, SASAFRASS, ZEN AT THE CRANE AND WHISPERS. Remember, the restaurant never offerd to put things right AND they still charged about $45 USD for the fish which was returned 15 seconds after it arrived. I sat and watched my wife eat... Four of us had dinner at the Lone Star on Tuesday 14th October 2008, it was a very pleasant experience with good food and attentive staff...I will certainly visit the restaurant in future.

We ate at the Lone Star back in 2005, you had to go just for the curiosity of what i read on the web,, but quite honesty it was a big dissapointment on the food and service side.
The staff were miserable unless of course you were a celeb then they would lick your boots whilst giving you the cheesiest smile, the portions were, well i had a shrimp caeser salad, it was heavy on the salad and very little shrimp, with a big bill, I would recommend a drink just to people watch but i wouldnt rush back.

The restaurant is not in the same category as the fine dining restaurants in Barbados. It serves chain food at extremely high prices. The service was poor and surly. It does have a good location, and the restaurant has a good atmosphere, however, neither make up for the poor value for money.

Lone Star was probably my favourite dining experience on the island, out of The Cliff, Tides, Daphnes & Lone Star. While the food was best at The Cliff, and Tides was great for proximity to the beach & staff, I think Lone Star was the best experience & nicest atmosphere. Their mussels were amazing!

Food not bad but they really must work on the service !
Got there at 7.15pm for a 7.30 booking,asked to sit at the bar for a pre dinner drink and received a look that could kill!
Problem is they have 2 sittings(7.30 and 9.30) and anyone who hasn't finished their pudding by about 8.45 is hurried and harrassed as the next lot of diners are stalking at the adjacent bar making one feel highly pressurised.
They should really take a leaf out of Daphnes down the road..absolute perfection !
If you are considering a romantic evening forget the Lonestar as the hurried, dollar grabbing atmosphere totally kills it !

My boyfriend and myself are regulars to Barbados and in Sept we were invited to the this resturant by his boss. The weather on the day was terrible but even that could not spoil the views over the beach, it was amazing , and the food was excellent. I had the Jerk Chicken with mash potato, it was to die for and my partner had fish. The cocktails were also fabulas. We were shown round the rooms and they were just perfect. I would go back to this resturant again. We were seated right next to Tony Blair and his famly who were there on holiday
