The Supper Club is one of the most famous spots in Amsterdam. Started by Thorwald Voss, this artistic place is part restaurant, part lounge/bar. The menu is fixed and diners sit on cushions. It’s a magnet for the artistic, hip and trendy. Book weeks in advance and prepare to empty your wallet – the food is not cheap.

This was just like the photo - EMPTY. Until the music turned from excellent to R&B rubbish. Not recommended, spoilt my 40th. Avoid like the plague.

Amazing ambiance, amazing people, amazing food.
Somewhat sceptical prior to arrival, but once seated we knew we were in for a special evening.
Highly recommended, in fact, i'm going back for more!

Yes, the Supper Club is a geat experience in terms of being a trendy place.
The food is good, without any doubt.
The service though is terrible, but not just only at the Supper Club.
The Dutch do not get the meaning of the word "service".

My eating experience was on the supper club cruise, which is the supper club on a boat! The interior decor was amazing. Basically the same layout as the supper club - beds instead of tables. It appeared that a lot of time and money had gone into the design and concept of the boat - just a shame the same could not have been said about the food.

When we were choosing our wine we asked our waiter what was on the menu so we could decide which wine to have with our food - he refused to tell us saying it was a surprise and he wasn't allowed to say! (It definitely was a surprise...) No menu was given at all and no explanation of courses - 5 in total. We started with some sort of pasta (the most edible course of the evening) that was actually quite tasty – although having it hot rather than luke warm would have been nice. Next we were served a very salty lobster bisque in a polystyrene cup (i kid you not) with a cheese straw sticking out of it. The best surprise came with main course - a lump of charcoal, or was it beef steak… on a bed of mashed potato with some kind of green leaf in it. How anyone – no matter how unskilled in the kitchen could possibly burn beyond recognition a piece of steak whilst keeping it totally rare inside is shocking - and then to actually consider serving it! No one had asked how we would like our steak cooked either- maybe that would have given the surprise away? They finished off with some melted vanilla ice-cream with a dollop of chocolate ice-cream in it for luck – more like Yuk! The kitchen staff must have been having a laugh!

The total bill for 2 people, which included one aperitif each, dinner (which was a set menu at 65 euros) and 2 bottles of wine as you could not buy the wine by the glass came to 220 euros. Overall it was diabolical - vastly overpriced and the food totally inedible. It was more like school canteen food. I recommend anyone not to bother going. You may have heard wonderful things about the concept and the décor but really - don’t waste your money. Go to Mc Donalds – it has to be better!
