In the hands of chef Thomas Keller for just a decade, this saloon come brothel, come laundry, come bistro has become what many argue is the best restaurant in the world. The French Laundry has sat on top of Restaurant Magazine’s top 50 best restaurants list for the past two years. Dinner is served everyday while early diners will find that lunch is only served Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A modest two story stone house is not what many would expect from a restaurant with this sort of reputation, but the amount of accolades this place has received do not just appear out of thin air. Reservations are taken two months in advance.

The French Laundry is an experience not to be missed. My wife and I flew down from Vancouver, Canada to celebrate a "milestone" birthday there. An unassuming building in a small Napa town...but everything is 1st class. Amazing food, attentive service in a beautiful room. Watching the wait staff do their service "dance" is worth the price of admission. Keller has got it figured out...

Yountville is about 70 miles north of San Francisco, although it is well worth the drive.

After reading the book, the hype of eating at what is considerd the finest French restaurant in the world there is an awful sense just before you leave the house that the evening would be a let down. Happily this isn't the case in the French Laundry.
Pretty much everything was perfect, from the service to the food and the wine selections although they can be pricey it's worth pushing out the boar for such a special occasion as this.
The only problem is you will want to eat here every day!
