Nestled inside the Balzac Hotel, Pierre Gagnaire’s self-titled restaurant is most noted for it’s brilliant and masterfully prepared cuisine. Under the careful eye of Gagnaire every meal is complex and inventive. The wine list is adequate for the restaurant, but does not stand out. Regardless, the food is so sublime that there is little other reason needed to go.

The waiters cleared tables and then scraped the plates right in front of us! My meal was a big disappointment and then as we left, the host stopped us to say the chef would like to say good evening. We were rather uncomfortable about this and wanted to leave but they insisted we wait, like it would be rude to the chef to leave. Well, chef did not appear for a good 10 minutes!!! So not only were we kept waiting, but then we were expected to heap complements on the narcissistic chef. Incroyable!

my wife and i ate here last month and it was truly phenomenal as a chef myself i found it deeply inventive cuisine so simlpe and yet yielding complexity i have worked with two three star michelin chefs one in england but gagnaire is the ultimate in this game his wine list was as interesting as the food and service was unuasaly good and personel allthough it would have been better if it hadnt cost so much
