This Sydney restaurant with modern cuisine is said to have some of the best service around. Co-owner and Executive Chef Luke Mangan is world renown and has received many accolades including the Chef award at the 2003 GQ Men of the Year awards. Dinner options include main courses fish or beef with vegetarian alternatives as well as a tasting menu. Located in the Kirketon Boutique Hotel, diners here are also given access to the hotel lounge bar as well as Fix Bar.

I have now been to Salt twice. The first occasion was a few years ago when I went during Good Food week for the $25- wine and lunch special. The set lunch was a miniscule tart. It was ridiculously small for what is advertised as a "lunch" and I didn't return for some time. The second time was a few months ago for dinner when we had the degustation menu. Some of the dishes were delicious but others quite disappointing. I'm all for experimenting with flavours but for me ( and my companions) some of the combinations just didn't work . Just because something is quirky and different doesn't mean it tastes nice !! Service was great but I won't hurry back.
