My friends and I have eaten here on several occasions and have always loved every detail!
We have enjoyed many dishes between us and have never been dissapointed.
We have tried set menus, taster menus and a la carte menus and each time, the food has been of the same exceptional standard. I would never have chosen fois gras with pain d'epice from a menu , but it is absolutely the best thing I have ever eaten!
As a pastry chef, I dont often feel like a dessert after a meal, but at Paston Place, I feel as if i am missing out if I dont! The Chocolate plate is divine and well balenced. The cheese board is also fab!
The service staff have always been very friendly and informative, whilst at the same time being discrete, you do not notice them until you require something.
If you could package Paston Place, I would buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were grated with a glass of champagne by the charming restaurant manager who explained the menu and helped us with the wine list.
The food though out the meal was fantastic and we were surprised when we received a special chocolate dessert.
The only complete I had was with you brighteners! You are missing out, I herd a table next to us mention it was pricey! £29 for 3 course and £20.00 tops for an al a carte main. What do expect to pay for quality food? Also I find no excuse for turning up an hour late with no apology and expecting to be served, if you were in London you would have lost your table!.
Go to One Paston Place you will not regret it.

My Wife and I booked a table at 1 Paston Place to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had seen a recommendation in the Times, so, living just up the road in Eastbourne, we thought we would give the restuarant a try.
First impressions were of a well mirrored, stark interior with zero ambiance, the food was just ok, nothing more, my Wifes starter was the delight of the night, whilst my chioces never quite made it.
When we got the bill for the night, we were shocked to see that we were charged £20 for 2 gin and tonics, (the Waldorf on the Strand in London is cheaper) and £7 for 2 espresso coffees.
The food was mediocre and provincial, the costs were London style.
I am not a professional food critic, but I know what I like, and how it should be presented and cooked.
Take my tip..........book up and treat youself to 5 star food at The Mirabelle Restaurant at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne.

For a start I have been to funerals with better atmosphere, it was dead. We were greeted by an uncomfortably smartly dressed chap who would not smile and even when i tried the small talk I could not break the veneer. This set the tone for the evening. All the staff seemed on edge and terrified of making a mistake, when the waiter dropped my bread roll on my lap he had a look of horror, i just laughed and smiled about it (he was probably fired later that night). The food was so over priced and bland that it made me upset to pay £25 for guilt head bream main that had less taste and character than the fish and chips i had at lunch for £3.50.
I consider myself soemthing of a intermediate when it comes to food, that said i know what good food is and I have have had some stunning meals in the past and happily parted with over £50 a head for them, this was sadly not one of them.
If your idea of a great dining experience is sitting in uncomfortable silence, in what can only be described as your grandmothers dining room, eating very expensive bland food and having very nervous waiters tip toe around you then this is the one for you.
On the other hand, if you want great food, great atmosphere and a great time, go elsewhere.
If this is Sussex's best dining experience then that does not say much for the county, though I feel that this was badly mis-judged.
