Originally designed as the Phoenix Assurance Company, this 1914 building has been restored, but many of the features have been kept including the white marble staircase to the mezzanine and first floors. Yet, there is a contemporary edge with the inclusion of works by local artists. The restaurant has a French style with Scottish flavour. Examples include roast pigeon breast with braised puy lentils and a roast garlic cream sauce, and Haggis neeps and tatties with a wholegrain mustard cream sauce.
